Athey History

In 1996, Brett Meador moved with his family from Southern Oregon to Portland to start Athey Creek Christian Fellowship. The first Sunday morning service was held at Athey Creek Middle School, where we currently meet. Wednesday Bible study took place in a little building around the corner from the school.

From the beginning, we have envisioned the church as a refuge, a place where those who are lost, hurting, or just plain worn out can find a haven from the chaos of the world in which we live. Our desire is to see people grow strong in their relationship with Jesus. We believe the best way to accomplish this is to study right through the Bible, receiving the 'full counsel of God.' The result, we pray, is a place like the New Testament church where the study of God's Word, prayer, communion and fellowship with other believers will cause us to grow in our love relationship with Jesus, and allow us to be lights in this dark world.
